Jody Morris is a graduate of Valdosta State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance studying under Dr. Lyle Indergaard. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Piano Performance at Georgia State University while studying with Dr. Geoffrey Haydon. As part of his teaching assistantship at Georgia State, Jody teaches college-level group piano classes to non-piano major students. During the course of his studies he has participated in many state
and regional competitions. Jody has had experience performing in a wide variety of ensembles including orchestral playing, opera and theater productions, jazz big bands, jazz combos, and vocal and instrumental accompaniment. Besides this, Jody started playing as a church musician at a young age, doubling on both piano and organ.
Jody is also an avid proponent of modern classical music and has performed many works by contemporary classical composers such as Carl Vine, Nikolai Kapustin, and Gyorgy Ligeti. In addition, he has always had an interest in jazz and improvisation.
Jody believes that music inspires creative thinking and encourages children to explore their imagination.
